Russell Scanlan fundraises for local charity with Quiz Night at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground.
The folklore of Robin Hood and his charitable giving, which is ingrained within Nottingham’s culture, is something that resonates with businesses across the city as they work on their own charity fundraising.
Russell Scanlan, a local business established in 1881, aims to help generate funds for Hope Nottingham through its annual quiz, held at Nottingham landmark, Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, at 18:30 on November 24, 2023.
The financial crisis has driven Nottingham’s residents to increasingly rely on community-led charities for support and advice. One charity who has felt this pressure in recent years is Beeston-based Christian charity, Hope Nottingham, who delivered emergency food to adults and children across Nottingham 21,526 times between July 2021-June 2022.
The charity, which has nearly 250 volunteers across 14 foodbank locations, has been committed to growing its community since 2007, providing valuable relief to those in crisis. Russell Scanlan chose Hope as its Charity of the Year and the annual quiz aims to bolster funds for the charity, which continues to make a significant difference to the community.
Nigel Adams, Founder and Ambassador of Hope Nottingham, added: “This is a challenging time for so many people, as the cost of living continues to tear holes in people’s pockets. It is extremely heartening to receive help from Russell Scanlan, and it is great to know the company is so eager to commit to a whole year of fundraising and other support. We are looking forward to the quiz and are very grateful and know that every penny can be used to bring real hope to hundreds of people across Nottingham.”
Last year’s quiz raised over £4,000 for Young Minds, a local mental health charity supporting young people. This year hopes to be bigger and better with Nottingham native Chris Turner-Rowe as quiz master, and a catered meal of pie and chips for all team members. Furthermore, Russell Scanlan’s popular Bottle Tombola returns, with prizes donated from Derbyshire-based Thornbridge Brewery and other local enterprises.
