A UK manufacturer of HVM street security products has recruited two new members of staff to help streamline its operations and strengthen its supply chain as it prepares for increased levels of activity throughout the rest of the year.
Securiscape, which is based in Derby, has appointed Dave Mott as technical lead and Chloe Stone as operations assistant to help it fulfil a number of high-profile installation projects around the country and also develop more additions to its product range.
Securiscape was founded 17 years ago and designs and manufactures a range of HVM (hostile vehicle mitigation) products including street planters, pedestrian guardrails and lightweight temporary barriers called Securipods, which are used to block off access roads at outdoor events.
This year it launched another new product, called the HVM Glide Bollard system, which features moveable bollards that can be slid in and out of position to control vehicle access.
In order to ensure that the company keeps up with demand, Dave, who used to run a company which manufactured metal shrouds for Securiscape’s HVM street planters, has been appointed to maintain and grow its supply chain, while Chloe will assist with the company’s sales, marketing and customer liaison, as well at its operations at the installation sites.
Mark Stone, managing director of Securiscape, said: “We’re very pleased to have brought Dave and Chloe on board at the start of what promises to be a very busy year for Securiscape.
“We have a number of installations ongoing at the moment, while the gradual easing of lockdown will mean that streets and public places will be getting busy again and outdoor events will be back on the calendar.
“We have been working extremely hard during the lockdown and much of that hard work will come to fruition over the next few months, with more installations than ever before and even more new products on the horizon.”
Mr Stone said that Securiscape is particularly anticipating strong demand this year for its Securipods, which have previously been used to protect public events in Hackney, Nottingham, Oxfordshire and Derby.
On the horizon, meanwhile, the Government’s plan to introduce Protect Duty, a legal requirement for public places to take steps to prepare for and protect people from terrorist acts, promises to have a significant effect on the security industry.
Currently at the consultation stage, Protect Duty has been championed by victims’ groups including the Martyn’s Law campaign, which was established by Figen Murray, who lost her son, Martyn, in the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.
