MX Display in Derby helps unlock classroom success with growing demand for visual learning

Wall graphics from MX Display

Derby-based large format print, graphic and signage firm MX Display is creating inspiring and informative wall art in schools and universities to help engage young learners.

Based in Derby’s Meteor Business Park, MX Display is seeing increasing interest from across the educations sector in its customised wall and printed floor graphics which are brightening up dull classrooms and dark corridors, all while helping to boost learning performances.

Advocating the importance of colourful and interactive learning spaces in educational institutions, MX Display on Mansfield Road, is inspiring students through its innovative graphics which communicate information in a new and effective way.

Recent studies found a clear and significant link between classroom design and learning performances. They suggest that school design and layout can positively impact academic achievements in pupils by 25 per cent. In addition, it is believed that environmental graphics aid retention far better than reading or being told the information.

David Lister, Sales Director at MX Display, said: “We walk around so many schools with bare walls, painted breeze blocks or cracking plaster and it makes us more determined to transform the space and add colour to engage their students.

“There are lots of off-the-shelf products, but they don’t last. They also don’t promote the school’s values and they’re not designed for the space.

“With a little creatively, we can make the information come to life. We can add the wow factor.”

As a Marketing Derby Bondholder, MX Display has delivered high calibre print for schools, colleges, and universities across the UK, including University of Derby and Ashby School in Leicestershire. At Ashby School, MX Display created an exciting interior wall graphic in the maths and science departments and installed a series of external signs and finger posts to effectively direct students and visitors.

David said: “It is always exciting when we get the opportunity to create something colourful in a school or university. Ashby School asked us to display a periodic table in the science department, and we used various depths of Foamex to create a fabulous 3D effect of the various group elements. We covered the whole area and it really made a difference to what was, a blank wall.”

MX Display specialises in the production and installation of high-quality interior branding graphics, signage and displays across the East Midlands and wider UK.

As part of its work, it regularly turns its attention to creating strong visible memories in educational settings and is keen to pursue more projects like this.

David said: “We like making blank corridors, stairs, windows and walls a learning space. Informative wall art for schools is a great way to brighten up dull classrooms and drab offices.

“Our wall graphics can be designed to suit your school layout and budget and can be a cost-effective way to change the look of a school environment.”

The business launched in 1996 in Abbey Street, but expanded a few years later to its current, larger site, where it now focuses on delivering high calibre print for a diverse range of clients.
