Much more than a meal

Prima Cheese welcomed County Durham Community Foundation onto their site on Tuesday (17th January 2023) to present them with a cheque after their fundraising efforts throughout 2022.

Michelle Cooper from County Durham Community Foundation visited Prima Cheese. A family-owned business established in 1996 which has turned into one of the UK’s biggest cheese processors. She was there to collect the cheque after the company had chosen the charity to support at the beginning of 2022.

The County Durham Community Foundation does amazing work including running the Poverty Hurts Appeal which is raising money to support local families, senior citizens, individuals, and children experiencing difficulties this winter.

To put the donation made by Prima Cheese into context, the charity said ‘the money raised will be used to help over 130 people, and help is so much more than a meal – that is often the hook, then it is what wrap-around support can be provided.’

Prima Cheese has an annual chosen charity that the whole company supports throughout the year with a variety of fundraising events.

Nagma Ebanks Beni MBE CEO at Prima Cheese said ‘We were delighted to be able to present the Charity with a cheque for the money our Prima team raised over the year. We are hearing fantastic stories of the difference the Poverty Hurts Appeal is making and feel thankful to have been able to support our local community.’
