Much-loved dog eyeing a bright future thanks to Cambridgeshire animal hospital

Luna’s corrective eyelid surgery at DWR Veterinary Specialists means she is now eyeing a bright future

A much-loved cocker spaniel whose eyelids were rolling inwards and irritating her eyes is now back to her mischievous self thanks to veterinary surgeons in Cambridgeshire.

One-year-old Luna’s eye problems meant she needed surgery on both eyes by a veterinary ophthalmologist (a vet who specialises in eye problems) at Linnaeus-owned DWR Veterinary Specialists near Six Mile Bottom after being referred by her local vet.

Grateful owner Kirsty Egen from West Norfolk, said: “When we heard of the diagnosis we were, naturally, worried about the effect it was having on her eyes.

“However, Inȇs, who led Luna’s care, was very reassuring and we had every faith in her. Inȇs was informative and attentive to Luna, and that in turn meant Luna remained calm.

“Now that Luna’s had the operation, she is doing very well and is happier that her eyes aren’t irritating her.”

Inȇs Freitas, a veterinary ophthalmologist at DWR Veterinary Specialists, said: “Luna was referred to DWR for persistent eye discharge and discomfort.

“I examined her and confirmed a diagnosis of entropion which meant that her eyelids were rolling inwards allowing the skin hairs to constantly touch and irritate the surface of both eyes.

“As a result, Luna underwent corrective eyelid surgery which resolved her eye problems.

“Luna is doing well and I understand that despite being very shy when she comes for appointments, she is back to being her cheeky self when at home, which shows that the operation was a complete success.”
