Mighty Polar Hilux vehicle from TVs Top Gear en-route to Stoke-on-Trent

Toyota Polar Hilux

Families are invited to a free family fun day where they can experience the infamous Toyota Polar Hilux in Stoke-on-Trent.

The car appeared in Top Gear when then presenters of the popular TV programme Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond took part in one of their most ambitious of challenges racing 450 miles from the town of Resolute in Northern Canada to the Magnetic North Pole.

During the Top Gear show it was Clarkson and May who took on the mammoth trip in a converted Hill truck whilst Hannon travelled in a sled pulled by a team of ten Canadian Inuit dogs.

The 4×4 vehicle – which is still in all its glory – will be on display during a fun-packed day at Stoke-on-Trent’s, Pinkstones Toyota on Saturday 28 October, as part of a family fun day where visitors will also be able to take part in giant size Scalextric and racing car simulator races.

“As a celebration of this iconic vehicle we wanted to open our doors to the public and share it with as many people as possible,” said Richard Harris of Pinkstones Toyota.

“The Toyota Polar Hilux is in itself an incredible car as the Top Gear show demonstrated with their trip to the North Pole – a show which was watched by many. To be able to showcase the original vehicle here in Stoke is brilliant.

“It’s going to be a great family fun day as there will also be races taking place on our giant Scalextric tracks and racing simulator – we cannot wait.”

Arctic Trucks – those behind the converted Toyota Polar Hilux which appeared on the show will also be attending the day.

Carrim Bundhun from Arctic Trucks said: “We are thrilled to be coming to Stoke-on-Trent with our vehicle. We know just how popular this vehicle was then and how much interest it had when on the TV show all those years ago – and even now people still love to see it. We cannot wait to be in Stoke.”

Prizes are going to be given away following virtual simulator and Scalextric races and complimentary pizzas and refreshments will also be available.

“We will be having our own themed league for races and prizes will be awarded in true Top Gear style to winners and runners up,” added Richard of Pinsktones Toyota.

“You never know – a visitor may even discover another challenge for the Polar Hilux!”

The family fun day will start from 10am at Pinkstones Toyota, Stanley Matthews Way, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 4DD and will run all day. Bookings are not essential. For more details please contact 01782 599111.
