Joely Garner at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice
Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice has announced Joely Garner is its new Interim Head of Fundraising.
Joely, who hails from Market Deeping, will lead a team of staff and volunteers raising vital funds so the hospice can continue to provide its expert palliative care and support to local families.
Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice is located in Peterborough and provides care to people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families, across the surrounding region. The hospice offers its care free of charge to those who need it, however it needs to raise £2.4 million this year to continue to provide it.
Joely is a familiar face to many in the local area; she was previously Senior Community Fundraiser and before that Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Before joining Sue Ryder, Joely worked for a disability charity in Cambridgeshire. She is also a mentee with the prestigious Tony Elischer Foundation.
“I am excited about this new opportunity,” said Joely. “I am so proud to work here at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice; it really is my dream job.
“I feel really strongly about the compassionate care we provide here at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and how important it is to support people through the most difficult part of their lives.
“I see on a daily basis the difference the funds raised by our incredible supporters make. Every penny raised really matters; it costs us £9,000 a day to run our services and any contribution to that is extremely appreciated.”
Joely and the rest of the team are working on a number of exciting events and fundraisers over the next few months. These include being a chosen charity for the Stamford Santa Fun Run on Sunday 8th December, challenging supporters to walk, run or jog 5km every day throughout December in the December Daily Dash, and encouraging local people to shine bright at the Lights of Love carol service at Peterborough Cathedral on Sunday 15th December.
“We couldn’t do what we do without the support of big-hearted people in our local community,” she adds. “I am always amazed by how creative and passionate our supporters are.
