Lincolnshire creative digital marketing agency, Knapton Wright acquires award-winning brand agency Bazzoo and announces its rebrand, built to showcase the positive impact of sustainable marketing

  • Knapton Wright welcomes Bazzoo brand and agency into the fold.
  • The Brigg-based creative marketing agency also launches a rebrand, created in collaboration with Lincoln’s Number 75 Design.
  • Sustainability lies at the heart of the rebrand, with Knapton Wright working with businesses to produce creative marketing solutions with longevity that emit less carbon.

As Quarter Four gets underway, creative digital marketing agency, Knapton Wright is thrilled to officially announce its expansion with the acquisition of Bazzoo – adding more than 100 new clients to the books.

A very timely move for Brigg-based Knapton Wright, as the team also celebrates a rebrand, which marks a strategic move towards embracing a more sustainable way of working.

The acquisition…

Having worked together on a number of projects and clients since 2015, Bazzoo and Knapton Wright’s working relationship goes back a fair way, setting the businesses up perfectly for more permanent collaboration, as Alex Wright, founder of Knapton Wright, explains: “As the years went by, longer-term collaborations saw Bazzoo and ourselves develop a stronger bond. So, when Bazzoo founder James Fountain mentioned he was keen to step back from running his business, whilst remaining in the industry, and saw us as the ideal team to take on his much-loved brand and client base, it was a no-brainer for me, Lou and Rob.

“For the last three years, we’ve been looking to grow the agency by acquiring the right business(es) – it’s a conversation we’re always open to – but we hadn’t thought to approach James about Bazzoo. James and the team have created some incredibly successful and innovative marketing campaigns for clients over the past 20 years, their approach of pulling on the thread of what is possible matched ours like-for-like.”

Initially bonding over having wives dedicated to the world of agriculture, Alex and James’s approach to agency life has ensured a seamless amalgamation of the two businesses. Expertly assisted through the acquisition process by trusted advisors Alex Douglas at RNS Chartered Accountants and Chris O’Connor, long-time legal advisor of Knapton Wright, the process was amicable, the transaction going through without a hitch, further solidifying the positive working relationship Alex and James have come to share.

Clients can now benefit from the skills of two experienced teams, working under one name with Knapton Wright’s technical marketing expertise fitting well with Bazzoo’s design and print focus, offering current clients from each business – as well as new clients – additional opportunities.

Bazzoo clients have now settled into the Knapton Wright fold, a process which has been helped by James staying on with the Brigg-based agency as a consultant, to lend his creative direction and provide a link between Bazzoo’s clients and the Knapton Wright team.

Looking ahead, Knapton Wright is excited to reach into networks that it hasn’t previously explored. Especially in light of the agency’s renewed focus on sustainability following a recent rebrand.

The rebrand…

Created in collaboration with Number 75 Design – specialists in bespoke brand and website design based in Lincoln – the Knapton Wright rebrand signifies a lot more than just a new look for the agency. This make-over marks a turning point for Knapton Wright, incorporating Alex’s experience in the built environment and the three directors’ significant ties to the world of agriculture, to officially see the team embracing a more sustainable way of working, a process that has naturally evolved to become part of the agency’s everyday approach to creative marketing solutions that emit less carbon.

“We’re already creating high-performing platforms that enable businesses to be even more successful and with a minimal, positive impact on the planet,” adds Alex. “Our niche was staring us straight in the face,  so why not take it one step further and saddle up with businesses that want to be cleaner and greener, working towards helping our planet thrive while also supporting clients that are perhaps looking to take those first tentative steps towards becoming more operationally sustainable.

“Sitting smack-bang at the foot of the Energy Estuary here in North Lincolnshire and the Humber, we’re conscious of playing our part – and a very active part at that – in growing the influence of the thriving sustainability sector that’s flourishing right on our doorstep. The fact that many of Bazzoo’s clients already strive to put the planet first means we can continue on our quest to promote a marketing mindset that focuses on sustainability and putting back more than what we’ve taken out.”

What’s next for KW? Well…

“I could say that further expansion and growth is next, but actually, it’s right that we have a period of consolidation,” reassures Alex. “We need to spend some time getting to know our extended client base and make sure Knapton Wright and Bazzoo become known as one entity.

“That said, Rob, Louise and I don’t like to stay still, we’re always looking for ways to improve our business, the experience our team has and the results our clients get through working with us. Our aim in setting up Knapton Wright was to provide opportunities for people to do great work in a creative marketing environment by building great relationships with brands that grow as a result of what we do; this acquisition is another building block. In the next month or so, we’re also moving out of our Brigg base of the past seven years, to a shiny new office a few miles down the road…watch this space!”
