Professionals who work with acquired brain injury clients are invited to a specialist seminar hosted by leading East Midlands law firm Nelsons.
The free interactive event – which will take place at Nelsons’ Nottingham office, in Pennine House, Stanford Street, on 28 January from 9.30am – will focus on a variety of different topics, including:
- Balancing autonomy and safeguarding
- Understanding a client’s welfare benefit entitlement
- The importance of different professionals working together
- When the Court of Protection should become involved
- How personal injury trusts can be of assistance
- The impact of fatigue on such clients.
Craig Staten-Spencer, Associate and Trust Manager at Nelsons, who will be speaking at the event, said: “Sustaining a brain injury can have a serious effect on a person’s life. They may be unable to lead a normal life in the future and may also require rehabilitation support, permanent care and long-term financial support.
“However, there are ways professionals can prepare themselves for helping a brain injury client to ensure the process is smoothly managed and is approached in a way that’s tailor-made for the individual’s needs.
“Our latest seminar is aimed at all professionals who work with acquired brain injury clients. It will be an interactive session touching on important issues such as the Court of Protection, which can be confusing when it’s first dealt with, and the benefits of personal injury trusts. Updates will also be provided on welfare benefits for brain injured clients and the impact of brain injuries.
“We will be looking closely at the importance of various disciplines working together to empower a brain injured client to live the best life possible. The event will also provide an ideal time for people to ask questions and talk through real life case studies in a safe, anonymous environment.”
