LandAid launches annual SleepOut fundraiser

  • LandAid aiming to raise over £500,000 to end youth homelessness, calling on over 1,000 property professionals to SleepOut in March across 7 UK locations, including a brand new Scottish SleepOut

LandAid, the property industry charity, is calling on over 1,000 property professionals across the country to come together to endure one night outside and SleepOut on Thursday 2 March, to raise funds to support young people who do not have a safe and secure place to call home.

This year, the LandAid SleepOut is back and bigger than ever, in seven locations across the UK: Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, London, Manchester and new for 2023, the first ever Scottish LandAid SleepOut in Glasgow! Not forgetting that you can also take part virtually by Sleeping Out At Home.

Each participant will be asked to raise over £166 – the cost of funding one desperately needed bed space for a month. Every penny raised will take LandAid one step closer towards its mission of ending youth homelessness, giving young people the structure and support they need, to build a brighter future.

Wide support has already been shown across the property and real estate industries from headline sponsor, Knight Frank, alongside regional sponsors; Prologis in Birmingham, TFT in Bristol, Hollis in Glasgow, Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester, and Henry Boot Developments in Leeds.

Each region will help fund a local project that will have a huge impact on its community.

For those taking part in the SleepOut At Home, there will be a jam-packed livestream, featuring speeches from property professionals, the headline and regional sponsors, and young people who have experienced homelessness.

This is the fifth LandAid SleepOut. Last year, LandAid’s first ever hybrid, at-home and in-person SleepOut saw 840 property professionals braving the rain and cold overnight to raise over £560,000.

122,000 young people approached their local council for housing support last year alone. Sadly, many of these were left unsupported and therefore rely on the vital care that charities provide in local communities across the UK. Now, this support is more valuable than ever.

Paul Morrish, Chief Executive, LandAid, said: “I am thrilled that we are taking the LandAid SleepOut to seven different locations across the UK as well as virtually, for 2023. Bringing in our Scottish partners for the first time this year is so exciting! It is very special that we are now on our fifth year of getting property professionals together for our annual SleepOut. Each year I have seen this event grow and grow. I am so proud. With brilliant events like this, LandAid can continue to support young people in building stable futures and enabling them to have a place to call home. You can create more safe and secure homes for those that have nowhere else to turn. I ask for all your support in making the 2023 LandAid SleepOut the biggest yet!”

Will Beardmore-Gray, Senior Partner & Group Chair, Knight Frank, said: “I am delighted that Knight Frank is supporting the LandAid SleepOut for the fifth time. This event on 2 March 2023 promises to be bigger than ever with more nationwide events planned across the UK, including Scotland for the first time, to raise awareness for this worthwhile cause. Young people experiencing homelessness remains a serious issue. Supporting the LandAid SleepOut will make a real difference to many who are facing the reality of living without a home.”
