Dedicated KEMP Hospice volunteers have been running weekly library coffee mornings at Kidderminster Library since 1998 and to date have raised an outstanding £41,800 to support the local charity’s vital work.

Many volunteers have supported the coffee morning over the years, and Jean Fulton, KEMP volunteer who currently co-ordinates the weekly event, said “I am so proud to be part of KEMP’s coffee mornings at Kidderminster Library after so many years. We have many regulars who come along every week – some for over ten years. It is a lifeline for some people. It is a wonderful way for people to feel part of our community whilst supporting KEMP at the same time.”

In the early days, the coffee morning took place on the second floor of Kidderminster Library and guests were entertained by a pianist as they enjoyed a cuppa and a slice of cake as well as swapping puzzles. In later years, after the Job Centre moved across to the library, the coffee morning found a new home in the library first floor gallery where it is today.

The funds raised by KEMP’s volunteers at Kidderminster Library have had, and will continue to have, a direct impact on the services provided at KEMP Hospice. Charlie Homer, Head of Fundraising and Communications at KEMP Hospice said, “We are so incredibly grateful and would like to thank to our current volunteer team of Jean, Jenny, Sheila and Grace for their time, dedication and support. We also acknowledge the many former volunteers who all played such a vital part in raising this incredible total. It is an achievement everyone should be so proud of. All our services are provided free of charge to patients, so every penny raised over the years has gone directly towards the provision of their care and support.”

KEMP Hospice provides valuable care and support to people across the Wyre Forest affected by a life-limiting illness and bereavement. Charlie continued “As a charity, we need to raise £1.5m every year to continue to provide our support and services to residents of the Wyre Forest. We are also so grateful to everyone who comes along to our coffee mornings for supporting KEMP, and to Kidderminster Library for their continuously championing our weekly event.”

KEMP Hospice and volunteers at the coffee morning welcome everyone from across the Wyre Forest community to pop in for a cuppa every Thursday from 9am to 12pm on the 1st floor gallery at Kidderminster Library. If anyone would like to volunteer some time once a month to help at the coffee morning, KEMP would love to hear from you.
