Healthcare manufacturer catches penguin fever

Gail Hatfield, Group People Director, Matthew Press, CEO, and Kathryn McKenzie Rowan, Group Corporate Communications Manager, Kimal

A Worcestershire-based company which provides medical devices and equipment to hospitals all over the world is partnering with the county’s hospice.

Kimal, a specialist manufacturer of procedure packs and vascular access devices, is sponsoring the great Waddle of Worcester, which will see eighty penguins pop up in streets, green spaces and shopping areas for eight weeks from July 2024.

A Wild in Art event, the art trail is being brought to Worcester by St Richard’s Hospice in its fortieth year caring for patients and loved ones across the county.

Matthew Press, CEO for Kimal, said: “Although our products support healthcare in more than 70 countries worldwide, we’re very much a Worcestershire company with a locally-based team. So, we couldn’t be prouder to be supporting our local hospice and the exceptional care it provides here on our doorsteps.

“Our team loved collecting the St Richard’s giraffes and elephants around Worcester in previous years and the art trails created a real buzz in the city. We’re delighted to be adding a Kimal penguin into the mix.”

Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We get to meet some amazingly innovative local businesses through our penguin partnerships and Kimal is one of those.

“More used to providing products to support heart procedures, Kimal will help our penguins slide into hearts all over the county next summer.  We can’t wait to see the team waddling with us.”

Forty large penguins will be designed by artists from Worcestershire and beyond.  Forty chicks will be lovingly painted by local schools and community groups.

The great Waddle of Worcester is supported by Presenting Partners; Crowngate, DRPG, Worcester City Council and Worcestershire Ambassadors, Community and Education Partner; Worcester BID and Media Partners; the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
