St Richard’s Santa Run (Dec 2022)
A sea of Santas will dash around the river Severn this winter to raise funds for a city-based hospice.
The annual St Richard’s Hospice Santa Dash takes place on Sunday, December 10 starting from South Quay in Worcester.
Participants can take on a 4K jog or 7.5K loop before crossing the finish line to claim a Santa Dash medal and festive treat.
Sofia Gunster, Events and Community Fundraising Lead, said: “We can’t wait to see all our Santas lined-up and ready for a jolly jog this winter!
“This really is such a fun, family-friendly event which gets us all in the mood for the festive season.
“Not only that, but it’s an important fundraiser for our care which is provided free-of-charge to patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”
Last year, 291 people took part in the Santa Dash and raised, after costs, £8,803 for St Richard’s.
The Santa Dash is sponsored by Spa Decorators.

“We are really looking forward to seeing as many people there to raise as much money as we can for St Richard’s at such a wonderful time of year.”
Both routes begin at the fountains by South Quay with Christmas tunes, and a warm-up from dance instructor Ellie Hawkins.
The 4K course extends to the Diglis Bridge before heading back to South Quay along the opposite side of the river.
The longer trail takes runners across the fields of Bennetts Farms, and up to its farm café, Bennetts Willow Barn, in Lower Wick before heading back to finish at South Quay.
Attendees can wear their Santa suit from a previous year’s event, or come dressed in a festive outfit of their choice. Or, they can opt for the ticket with a Santa suit included. A child’s ticket includes a Santa hat.
Event registration is from 9am and the dash begins at 10am.

St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity caring for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment to their last days and supporting those important to them.
Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,100 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.
It costs £10.28m to run the hospice (22/23 audited accounts), which includes patient care and all the necessary support services.
St Richard’s relies on donations and gifts in Wills for the majority of its income with the remainder funded by the NHS.
