Former Wolves stars in charity match for Acorns

Former Wolves stars will be taking part in a charity match as part of a big community fun day to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Wolves All Stars are captained by Jody Craddock and managed by Mel Eves, who played over 200 games for Wolves including in the 1980 League Cup Final victory at Wembley.

The teams incudes players such as Karl Henry, Dave Edwards, Michael Kightly and Kevin Foley and will be up against AFC Wulfrunians at the event in July.

Danielle Cashmore, from AFC Wulfrunians, said she hoped to see hundreds of people at the family fun day, which would feature stalls, kids’ five-a-side matches and boxing classes as well as much more.

“This is the first time we have held an event like this and we would love to see lots of local families down here enjoying the day and helping us raise money for Acorns,” she said.

“Acorns does fantastic work helping children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and they rely on community fundraising, so we want to do everything we can to help make sure they can continue to support families across the region.”

The match and fun day will be held at the AFC Wulfrunians ground in Catlecroft Road, Wolverhampton on Sunday, July 16.

Kick off is at 2pm, but the fun day will run from 11.30am until 7.30pm.

Entrance is £5 for adults and £3 for children and concessions.>
