Experienced journalist Jenny is looking forward to sharing the news as she joins Derby firm Penguin PR

Former reporter Jenny Moody, who has spent 15 years working on titles including the Burton Mail and Uttoxeter Advertiser, has joined Derby public relations firm Penguin PR

A former reporter who spent 15 years sharing the heartbreak, joy and achievements of people and businesses has joined the team at Derby-based public relations firm Penguin PR.

Jenny Moody has previously worked for Reach PLC, sharing the news of people and businesses across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire through the Burton Mail and Uttoxeter Advertiser.

She also wrote for the Staffordshire Live website.

After finishing university, she started at the Burton Mail as a trainee reporter while studying at Wolverhampton College, later writing for the Uttoxeter Advertiser before returning to Burton.

Jenny worked her way up to senior journalist, staying with the company until recently. Over the years she has helped to promote businesses, sharing what goes on behind the scenes as well as sharing stories of bravery, heartache, health and overcoming adversity.

She has also previously been named a runner-up in the News Reporter of the Year (daily) category at the Midlands Media Awards and says she is delighted to have become a member of the team at Penguin PR.

Jenny said: “I am really pleased to be joining Penguin PR and ready to start sharing all the exciting and innovative ways that businesses, schools and charities across Derbyshire and Staffordshire have been supporting people and their communities as they continue to grow.

“It is a brilliant time to be joining the company and I hope to bring everything I have learned through my years as a journalist to Penguin to help promote clients and their stories.”

Jenny’s appointment brings the total number of staff at Penguin PR, which has offices in Derby and Chesterfield and represents firms, schools and charities across Derbyshire and beyond, up to seven.

Sarah Newton, co-founder of Penguin PR said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jenny to Penguin PR. She is a very experienced reporter, has excellent writing skills and, most importantly, has an eye for a good story.

“PR is an effective way for organisations to raise awareness of themselves by being able to tell an engaging story. Not only will Jenny’s skills be invaluable for our current clients, her experience and knowledge of Burton will enable us to spread our wings into East Staffordshire as well.”
