Employment law specialists who are shaking up the industry are shortlisted for a prestigious award

Hannah Strawbridge

Established three years ago, the award-winning Han Law is enjoying another success having been shortlisted for the Modern Law Client Care Award.

In 2019, Founder, Hannah Strawbridge, felt demoralised working in a traditional law firm but still retained her passion for employment law. Convinced that there was a different way of providing advice to clients while also creating an environment that would attract other team members who didn’t fit the outdated stereotype, Hannah set about to add some colour to a predominantly grey industry.

Starting with no clients and no cash, just one laptop and a mobile phone, the business has grown by 500% as clients were quickly drawn to a business that promised an amazing client experience, full of integrity and humanity. At the same time, Hannah attracted like-minded team members as she fulfilled her goal of creating an environment that was fun to work in, and where they were able to thrive. It proved that a diverse team, being supported, allowed to thrive outside of work, and who are encouraged to think creatively, is happier, which means the clients are too. It is that simple.

The criteria for the Modern Law Client Care Award asked for examples of exceeding expectations of basic client care and professionalism, along with sharing evidence of the ways their innovative approach has helped improve and maintain all aspects of client care. As client care is the key motivator for Han Law they were able to clearly identify how they make their client’s lives easier and more enjoyable, by helping them reach the outcome they need. They find that a pragmatic approach with a bit of humour when required can ease the stress.

Being shortlisted for this award has further validated Hannah’s initial beliefs that this type of approach was being craved by clients and specialists alike.  Hannah reveals, “I was thrilled to have been shortlisted, particularly in this category. Recognition like this from our peers is valuable feedback as it shows we are making a difference and people are noticing”.

Regardless of the outcome on the night, the team is looking forward to celebrating with the other nominees on 2 March 2023 at The Hurlingham Club in London.
