Des and Fat go FORTH with 165ft charity abseil for Global’s Make Some Noise

Fat Brestovci and Des Clarke

In a heart-pounding adventure that had bystanders holding their breath, two of Scotland’s best-loved radio stars, Des Clarke and Fat Brestovci took a breathtaking plunge off the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, dangling a whopping 165 feet above ground level!

But Des and Fat’s Big Drop wasn’t just for the thrill; it was all in the name of charity, supporting Heart Scotland and Capital Scotland’s charity, Global’s Make Some Noise.

Joining Des and Fat on this adrenaline-pumping escapade was Cor Hutton, the visionary founder of Finding Your Feet, along with 12 inspiring amputees from the Paisley-based charity.

Des, Heart Scotland’s breakfast show host, revealed, “This was nothing short of an ordeal for me, considering my lifelong terror of heights. However, thanks to therapy, hypnosis, rigorous training, and the unwavering support from friends and Heart Breakfast listeners, I must say, I genuinely enjoyed it! Who would have thought, right?”

With a cheeky grin, he added, “I just hope we’ve raised a boatload of cash, and there’s still time for anyone who doubted I’d make it to donate!”

Meanwhile, Fat Brestovci chimed in, “Wow, I’ve never experienced anything like this before, and I’m pleased to report that my glasses are still intact! The generosity we’ve seen in donations so far has been incredible. It was an absolute privilege to be part of this charity event, and meeting the Finding Your Feet team took this fundraising campaign to a whole new level.”

Cor Hutton, the fearless founder of Finding Your Feet and quadruple amputee couldn’t contain her excitement, “What an extraordinary adventure! Our troupe of ‘Troopers’ from Finding Your Feet found this abseil both terrifying and exhilarating. Confronting your fears can be immensely rewarding, and we truly hope we’ve raised a substantial sum. A heartfelt thanks to Des and Fat and everyone at Global’s Make Some Noise for their unwavering support—it means the world to us.”

Now in its 10th year, Global’s Make Some Noise charity appeal has transformed the lives of over 175,000 individuals and backed 440 remarkable small projects in communities across Scotland and the UK. These small charities wield a mighty impact, and in these challenging times, they need our support more than ever.

This year Global’s Make Some Noise has raised more than £3 million, taking the total raised over 10 years to more than £34 million. For its tenth appeal, Global’s radio brands and presenters joined forces to raise funds for 100 charities in local communities across the UK.

Every penny raised for Global’s Make Some Noise will go directly towards helping small charities like Finding Your Feet.
