Completion of impressive refurbishment means restaurant can reopen

A popular buffet restaurant is scheduled to reopen after a £500,000 renovation which has seen the introduction of a host of stylish design improvements.

COSMO all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant on St Paul’s Place, near the Peace Gardens, is reopening its doors on October 20 following the refit which is designed to return the restaurant to the Far Eastern five-star dining experience that has made it a firm favourite with city diners for almost a decade.

The work has included upgrading the lighting all over the restaurant including the installation of lights inspired by Chinese nut fruits, tactile stone tiling, dark oak timber and glamorous wall shelving.

The restaurant has also replaced or reupholstered each of the 300 seats in the restaurant to give a more comfortable dining experience.

The centrepiece is a huge television screen measuring seven metres by three metres which will show theatrical footage from the restaurant’s seven live cooking stations.

COSMO Sheffield was one of the UK-wide groups flagship restaurants when it opened its doors in 2014 and the recent upgrade ensures that it once again has the most contemporary design in the 21-strong group.

Director Kan Koo said: “We have been operating in Sheffield city centre for almost 10 years and so the restaurant was ready for a little facelift – it’s important to our group to maintain high standards.

“The refurbishment has taken slightly longer than we anticipated but we feel confident that our customers will agree that it is has been worth the wait.

“We are extremely grateful for everyone’s patience while we have been closed for this project and we are looking forward to welcoming back our diners.”

The restaurant chain’s newest branch in Glasgow’s St Enoch’s shopping centre was the inspiration behind the refurbishment at COSMO Sheffield.

Designed by the multi award-winning Robert Angell – who has previously worked with Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing – COSMO interiors have previously been shortlisted for a Restaurant & Bar Award for its architectural design.

Diners can still enjoy a variety of authentic dishes from across the globe; from Chinese, Thai and Indian to Italian-inspired pizza and pasta. And, best of all, it’s unlimited – meaning guests can go back for seconds or even thirds.

Mr Koo added: “The main thing is our live cooking stations have not changed and our ice-cream machine, popcorn machine and chocolate fountain will always take centre stage in the dessert section.

“Our high standards remain and we can’t wait for Sheffield’s diners to come along and see how we’ve improved the COSMO experience.”
