The date for your diary is the first Sunday of the new year, a day when singles worldwide are gearing up for a date with matchmaking apps.

London-based Stacy Thomson is the founder of the world’s first global matchmaking open network, REDDI. Her app is revolutionising the way individuals connect and build relationships on a global scale. Meeting online has become the most popular way couples meet, reports a Stanford University study  published in 2019.

In 2022, over 366 million individuals sought love through online dating services, and this number is expected to rise to 440 million by 2027.

Whether emerging from holiday festivities, wrestling with boredom, or contemplating a fresh start in the new year, the time is ripe for delving into online dating on ‘Dating Sunday’, January 7.

Stacy Thomson brings over 20 years of experience in mental health to the app’s design. Her background as a mental health practitioner and a business psychologist  has significantly influenced the app’s approach to human behaviour, relationships, connection, and love.

Thomson reveals, “Daters are prioritising emotional intimacy above sex and redefining what relationship timelines mean. We’ve also found that there’s an increased desire to focus on dating someone who is in tune with their mental health. The data tells us that almost one third of our members believe emotional intimacy is more important than sex, and that’s just as attractive as physical connection”.

The crescendo of activity on ‘Dating Sunday’ is expected between 8pm-10pm, with a meteoric spike around 9pm. Thomson observes, “While Dating Sunday reigns supreme as the busiest day, we’ve noticed heightened activity throughout the first two weeks of January, transforming the entire month into a matchmaking haven.”

Stacy imparts invaluable wisdom for fortifying your dating profile:

Illuminate your profile with what you love, steering clear of negativity. Profiles accentuating the positive witness a twofold increase in matches. Initiate the new year with a positive vibe, clearly articulating your romantic aspirations.

Showcase an open-minded attitude towards diverse date experiences. Embrace recent trends favouring simpler, outdoor activities, elevating your appeal by expressing a willingness to explore various date ideas.

Transparency emerges as the key to triumphant online matchmaking. Clearly communicate your expectations from the outset, setting the stage for meaningful connections in a world where discussions on consent and personal boundaries are on the rise.

While ‘Dating Sunday’ reigns as the matchmaking zenith, Sundays persist as the most active days year-round. Log in between 8pm and 10pm to harness the surge in matchmaking energy, maximising your chances of securing that special date.

In a landscape where political leanings increasingly shape dating destinies, open up about your views. Acknowledging and respecting diverse political perspectives contribute to a harmonious matchmaking experience.

As ‘slow-dating’ gains momentum, encouraging a more deliberate and mindful approach to matchmaking, REDDI provides a platform where singles can authentically connect, prioritising mental well-being in the pursuit of genuine connections.

REDDI eagerly anticipates playing cupid and helping singles kickstart their matchmaking odyssey in the new year.
