Award-winning West Midlands PR agency celebrates 30% fee growth in 2023

West Midlands PR agency R&Co Communications is celebrating a record year of growth – L-R Account Director, Sam Smith with Managing Director, Peter Robinson

An award-winning West Midlands PR firm has capped a record year of growth with a new contract from one of its major national clients.

R&Co Communications, which has offices in Leamington Spa and Birmingham, has grown its fee income by more than 30 per cent in 2023, including a new agreement with Mars Petcare-owned Linnaeus, one of the UK’s biggest veterinary groups.

This follows another set of record PR results for Linnaeus, with more than 4,000 pieces of earned media coverage achieved for its brands across the year.

The R&Co team has also grown, with the addition of account director Sam Smith and account manager Chris Box, both of whom work across multiple client industries.

Sam’s appointment followed R&Co winning a competitive pitch to represent national housebuilder Miller Homes, including support with a major PR campaign ahead of its 90th anniversary in 2024.

Peter Robinson, managing director at R&Co, said: “It has been a landmark year for R&Co, with outstanding client growth, the addition of more pillar clients and the growth of existing long-term client relationships.

“After 43 years as Newsline PR, we rebranded in May 2022 and since then, we have continued to strengthen our brand. This has seen us expand from focussing on elements such as media relations to full service, enabling us to offer services such as SEO, paid social and PPC all under one roof.”

The company’s success in business has worked hand-in-hand with its culture, which promotes a healthy work-life balance to get the best out of the team.

“R&Co is a family business, so a key value is that family comes first. While we work hard to get the job done, flexible working supports many of our team who are raising young families,” added Peter.

“We hear all sorts of horror stories from other PR agencies where people sink under their workload. We simply don’t have that issue here and work as a team to achieve outstanding results for our clients.”

R&Co won Gold for the best healthcare campaign at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Midlands PRide awards last year, while also taking home a Silver award in the same event for best small PR consultancy.

The agency followed this up with multiple nominations in the PRCA Dare and CIPR PRide awards this year.
