Acclaimed authors Lizzie Lamb and Adrienne Vaughan reveal how to create a hero, what makes a bestseller, and why it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
Local writers Lizzie Lamb and Adrienne Vaughan are touring women’s groups, village halls, bookshops and libraries throughout Leicestershire and Rutland this spring in celebration of ten years as authors.
Having written and published no less than 11 books between them, the romance writing duo have enraptured thousands of readers and with their fanbase growing daily are currently working on new novels destined to hit the shelves later this spring.
Lizzie says: “We always wanted to be novelists – in common with so many − but with demanding careers – myself a deputy head teacher and Adrienne a journalist/PR, it was hard to find the time and energy it takes to be an author.
“With significant birthdays looming, we agreed it was now or never, and ten years ago I published my debut Tall, Dark & Kilted with Adrienne’s debut The Hollow Heart launching at the same time. And we’ve never looked back.”
Adrienne says: “Part of our success has to be staying power. As most writers would agree, it’s a lonely business and without our fantastic network of supporters, fellow writers and industry professionals it would be hard to see how we would have come this far.
“Apart from fabulous feedback from our readers, one of the things we love best is sharing the experience of our journey and hopefully encouraging others to do the same. So, when we were discussing how to celebrate our milestone, we agreed getting ourselves ‘out there’ was a great idea. Because, as we always say, it’s never too late to follow your dreams.”
