Changing the way we approach mental health?

The worst things in my life have never actually happened to me.  They had been lived in my head.

This is a hugely true and eye-opening statement, which had taken me 44 years to realise!  It had been me standing in my own way.  The battles that I had been having had been mainly in my mind.  Like constant fake news being consumed, I had fallen into the trap of believing all that I thought, without questioning my own irrational beliefs.

I had been in Business Development & Recruitment for all of my working life and decided to undertake a Masters in Mental Health Psychology.  This started a passion for recreating the way that we look at Mental Health and the way that we educate ourselves and our children.  It had become clear to me that too much of the focus lies in Mental ill Health, training to recognise the symptoms and to put a plaster over the problem, yet little work on the support systems and systemic reasons we find ourselves with low emotional wealth and wellbeing.

Nurturing Emotional Wealth (NEW) was developed to provide an Empowering, Relatable, Supporting, Knowledgeable and Inspiring Community, with the knowledge education and tools to do improve Emotional Wellbeing.

Emotional Wealth is not the quick fix plaster that we see so many trying to cover the wound of mental ill health with, but a transformation of health from the core. A proactive collection of skills to move forward with and lead your life not just live it.

It’s not reacting to and acknowledging Mental Health, but understanding ourselves and our minds, using proven facts to enable us to do what we love, be who we are and grow. Mental ill health is not going to go away and is a situation that with the way that we live in society today, the world challenges that we face and are exposed to and the decline in support available due to the stretched system will only manifest itself more.

As children we have been taught the skills to tie our laces, ride a bike and behave, yet no one teaches us how to understand our brains and take control of our unconscious beliefs, limited thinking and frequently irrational beliefs and change these into conscious choice in order for personal growth.

To change our lives, we need to better understand our physiological make up as what we think we create and living in the world that we find ourselves in today, and the trauma of living with the pandemic, this will only increase in importance, for ourselves and our children.

I started my business page http://www.facebook.com/nurturingemotionalwealth.

as an idea to support others and very quickly this Facebook community grew to over 900 within weeks, a clear indication that this is vital.

With one to one and group coaching, public speaking and a member community on Facebook I hope to take this much wider into people’s lives.

Spread the good news!
